Dr. Kayhan Zrar Ghafoor holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Salahaddin University (2003), an MSc in Remote Weather Monitoring from Koya University (2006), and a PhD in Wireless Networks from University Technology Malaysia (2011). He is a senior lecturer in the Department of Software Engineering at Salahaddin University, Iraq, and has published over 50 research papers in renowned international journals and conferences. Dr. Kayhan has served as a guest editor for the special issue on Network Protocols and Algorithms for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks in Mobile Networks & Applications (MONET),and holds editorial positions with several international journals.

He has chaired international workshops and conferences, and participated as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for over 30 conferences. He was awarded the UTM Chancellor Award at the 48th UTM Convocation in 2012, as well as the UTM International Doctoral Fellowship and a scholarship from the Kurdistan Regional Government. His research focuses on Vehicular Communication, Internet of Things, Big Data in VANET, and Software Defined Networks. He is a member of professional bodies including the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society, IEEE Communications Society, Internet Technical Committee, and the International Association of Engineers.
